With Winter quickly coming to an end, March Madness is upon us. The NCAA college basketball tournament gets most of the publicity for the March Madness moniker, but each of us Internet marketers can (and should) lay claim to a little March Madness of our own. With Spring only a few weeks away, it's time to "grow crazy."

Now is the time to plant seeds for the growth of your business. We all know that a good crop is not possible unless we:

  • Prepare the soil.
  • Plant the seeds.
  • Nurture the crops.
  • Weed out potential issues.
  • Harvest our crops when the time is right.

It matters not whether you work your business hard or slacked off during the Winter months. Each Spring season brings new life and new opportunities to grow again, regardless of events of the past. Every year at this time, hope springs eternal. With new growth brings new attitudes and opportunities. Don't let this window close on you.

Spring Forward or Fall Back!

Here we are on the cusp of a brand new season. Millions and millions of people will "spring forward" this month. We will do the same. How about you? Of course, we're referring to Daylight Savings Time, but we're also talking about our home Internet business.

There's a funny thing about this business, you are either springing forward or you are falling back. It's very rare that you (and your business) stay in the same place. This means that unless you are springing forward, the plain truth is ... you are typically moving in the opposite direction. There is no such thing as treading water in this business.

Any experienced marketer who is honest will tell you that people will come and go from your business all the time. Attrition is a fact of life in this business. The key is to make sure you have new members enrolling at a much faster rate than the dead weight that is dropping out. There are several things you can do keep your business ahead of the curve:

  • Use sponsoring tools to do much of the repetitive work for you. This will free up your time to work with your existing team members.
  • Interview new members to weed out the "talkers." With so many people out there who "talk a good game", you need a method to choose the right people for your team; people who will step up to the plate and do what it takes.
  • Mentor the workers on your team. Once you have selected your 'core leadership team', work closely with them and provide the resources and training they deserve. Make sure you use a duplicable system for training and supporting your team.
  • Take massive action. It's really quite simple ... massive results are the product of massive action. There is no way around it.

So, as we get set to adjust our clocks, we all have tough choices to make. As we bring more daylight into our daily lives, we need to open our minds and scrutinize the very foundation of the way we do business:

  • Are we going to adjust our thinking at the same time we adjust our clocks? 

  • Are we willing to make the necessary changes to keep our business, and our dreams, moving in the right direction?

  • Are we willing to make the difficult decisions and push the envelope of conventional thinking?

  • Are we willing to think outside the box and go against the tide of "line 'em up and sign 'em up?"

So, give it some thought, make some decisions, and go to work.
